The 18.5" cast iron grate is a perfect fit for the Charbroils Patio Bistro. For some added smoke we recommend using some wood pellets. Maple works great, just a small handful, they smolder, more like incense. Great taste!
Thank you Shane for sending that in.

The second in our new series of "Three minute something Grill Videos": Tbone steak on Cast Iron Grates

We're overlooking the vineyards near the the famous red slopes in Nierstein. The kamado is brand-new and I added an extra fire ring to bring the grate up to felt level for easier video taping.

It seems that the flame ups stop just beneath the grate. The grate is our new 49cm/19.3" grate. Originally meant for the Roessle, but it fits just as well here. Its about 30% thicker and heavier than the smaller 17.3"

The grates are quite new, so no need to brush. I just scrape them a bit and clean them with an oiled piece of cloth.

I grill 2 2 lbs t-bone steaks. I added the potatoes during the warm up an hour earlier.

When cooking at high temperature I don't open the vents more than half to prevent flareups. How important is the distance to the flames? I went further away, the results were as good as going right next to them.
